Consulting Case Study:

Rosewood Hotel, Abu Dhabi

Set to break ground in the spring of 2010, the Rosewood Hotel is located in the financial district of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Wine Trend was brought in to consult on the design of a high-tech bar, cheese cave, and a cigar and cognac room.

Client Goals:
• A metal and glass enclosed two-storey refrigerated wine storage tower.
• A mahogany 5,000-plus bottle wine enclosure.
• A high-tech wine bar concept with a computerized membership card reader to identify and bill customers.
• A metal ladder to reach the top storage area with a metal catwalk and railing.
• A wireless dispensing system with a digital wine and food pairing menu.
• A state-of-the-art cognac, chocolate, cigar storage and cheese cave for the aging of fine cheeses.

• Challenges:
• The logistical obstacles of a project of this size and complexity.
• Creating a wireless dispensing solution tied to a computerized membership card for easy billing.
• Generating more revenue by creating a concept that allows all wine amenities in the hotel to work together.

Solution:
• Converting a conceptual design into a final construction workshop drawing with all of the technical specifications required to begin fabrication.
• Developing custom software for the wireless dispensing solution and computerized membership card system.
• Coordinating with all contractors involved to achieve the desired aesthetics and functionality.
